 | Dear Subscribers,
 Greetings!

Continuing from last week, here is the finished still-life, "Daybreak" (11x14). I'm happy with how this one turned out (I'm digging the subdued color combined with high contrast):

And I painted a new small guy, "White Blossom" (8x8) (sorry, forgot to photograph stages):

 New portrait!

First stage. I thought her warm complexion would really pop on a green-toned panel. Blocked in the shapes and started on that eye:

Next stage. Got everything down, starting to refine.

Final stage. Readjusted some proportions, refined colors and values.
 The finished portrait, "Jenny" (12x12):

Charcoal! Mother of all mediums! Just burnt twigs!
Here are four 5-minute poses from life model (vine charcoal on drawing paper):

Here is an extended pose (3x20 minute blocks) (vine charcoal on bristol vellum):

Have a great Monday...be sure to get some of this:

  Mmmm...life-giving nectar...

 Until next week,
