Dear Subscribers,

Greetings!

I added a new section on the website, just for fun. I call it Random. It's filled with some random information about my favorite art materials and other stuff that I will update randomly. Take a look!

I just completed a portrait commission! I took some photos of the stages. For this portrait, I started from life with a smaller color/composition study that I used in conjunction with photos as reference for the final piece.

and the completed work, now up on the website, "Annabel" (14x11):

This was my first (human) portrait commission and it was a good experience. I like the pose--very dignified and 'regal' posture for an 11-year-old!!

Two new Minis!:

"Cup & Tangerine" (6x6):

"Lily & Plum" (6x6):

This next one bit the dust...scraped and wiped into oblivion. The composition wasn't working, very scatter-shot and awkward, and the aspect of that flower was somehow unnerving:

A longer pose, vine charcoal:

My struggle with watercolor continues....I thought this one turned out okay, but the flower shapes are too vague:
