Dear Subscribers,
Greetings!
Well, our adventure out here in Washington D.C. is nearly at an end. In the last three years I've received an incredible and career-altering education in art, while my wife has earned her law degree (next month). In just over 3 weeks we'll be driving a u-haul back to the west coast!! Aaaah, Seattle :) Time flies.....
New Mini!: "A Mottled Pair" 6x6 (usually "clever" titles annoy me, but this one was just too convenient)

Sadly, I'll soon be without access to the creepy Schuler School basement...it's just packed with ancient, rusted, dusty, scuffed, broken, smelly, and beautiful objects for still-life setups. I'll have to gradually build up my own collection of junk.
A small group of us students went out to some fancy gardens in Baltimore for a morning of painting en plein air. Pretty fun.

The tree I was standing under started shedding water drops from the previous rain. Good thing oil and water don't mix! Here's the morning's work (10x8):

We didn't have a figure model this week, so we took turns sitting for short poses. Some 10-minute clothed-figure sketches (vine charcoal):

A new watercolor that turned out not that bad:

A sneak-peek progress shot of a new 18x36 painting that I'm working on:

This may move to the back-burner for a bit as I'm starting a new portrait commission!
JUST SOLD!:

"Study of Dark Side" (8x8)
Until next week,
