Greetings! 

New still-life this week. I think it's got a different feel than some of
my paintings. I'm excited about it.

First, the setup:
 
 

The setup isn't much to look at, pretty boring actually, but I had a
mental image of how I wanted the finished painting to look....and this
was a good starting point. 

Next stage:
 
 

I'm trying to create a focused pool of light around the sake carafe,
with a composition that circles the eye into the dark and then back into
the light again.
