| Dear Subscribers, Greetings! Two new still life paintings this week. The setup:  I usually have the focus of my still-lifes near the table surface, but in this one I wanted to shift that to the top of the glass jar, and keep the rest muted. first stage:  And the finished painting: "Orange Glass" 8x8  Next setup:  In this one I wanted the vase to be in sharp focus, with everything else fading into the pale aether, all mysterious and such. I tried to preserve this initial mental picture throughout the process.  next stage:  next stage:  And the finished painting, "Ethereal" 11x14:  I like this look. I'm going to pursue it this week.
