And the finished painting, now up on the website, "Quarantine" (8x10)

Having finished this painting early in the week and being pleased with the result, I got all cocky and proceeded to bomb the next two painting attempts. What went wrong? I'm learning that when I end up wiping out a painting, it's nearly always because I don't have a clear mental vision of the finished painting from the very start. As a result I waffle, flounder, and produce something that doesn't excite me.
I'll show you one of them. It was going okay, but lacked drama and purpose... it was dull and empty:

Sooner or later, this lesson will sink in. Sooner would be good.
JUST SOLD!:

"Three Clementines"
Until next week!
