Dear Subscribers,

Greetings!

A new figure painting. The initial umber drawing was completed during a
3-hour model session (Forgot to photo that first stage, sorry. Some of
that drawing still visible in the pic below). Same awesome model as in
"Ryan" and "The Peacock
Device" .

It was mostly painted with a knife (as you can see with the chunky
paint). Finished with brushwork on the face.

New still life...not quite:

Ah yes, a new scrape-out! Hello again my friend, I haven't seen you in a
little while. You were past due. This started as a knife-painting demo
for my class. By the end of the next day I was going in circles, not
feeling it. Trying to save a composition that I felt was fundamentally
weak. Better to start a new one correctly rather than continue to
"polish a turd". It is tempting to get attached to something because of
the time already invested. Scraping out can be a small therapy.

Moving on. New possibilities awaiteth.

Until next week,
