Dear Subscribers,

Greetings!

Thanks for those collector photos
. Keep 'em coming.

New still life.

This painting was born from a paint-along day
  in my still
life class.

Another dumbbell. I love how the object looks. This one with a shinier
finish and darker color. The composition is similar to Hex
, but with a different set
of challenges.

The setup and shape-of-shadows:

We controlled value to keep the focus on the right side of the dumbbell.

This is where class ended and I continued later.

Next stage:

Next stage:

Going tighter in the right side of the dumbbell.

Next stage:

Tweaking and correcting the drawing and perspective at every
opportunity.

Reworking the values in the onion's turning-shadow.

And the finished painting, "Fifty Pounds"
