Dear Subscribers,

Greetings!

I've never put a painting up for auction before. I'm very pleased with
the set of nude paintings that I completed in 2012. I've found that a
studio almost completely void of paintings is the best for my creative
soul, so it's time to clean house and have an experiment on Ebay, and
the first of these nudes is already posted. The auction for this ends
Monday evening (tomorrow):

 The Peacock Device (24x12, 2012)

An exhibition with 4 of my Flrrbl
  paintings opened on
Friday! I unfortunately wasn't able to make it to Denver this time. I
hear the reception was a great success. It's a totally cool show with a
modern edge:

The Edge of Realism

Coming up next Sunday the 16th is STUDIO Gallery's epic annual "Tiny"
show! I've sent my most recent mini painting:

New still life. I'm trying to put myself in uncomfortable painting
situations more often these days. I'm doing this partially because it
pushes me to grow, and partially because there is an excitement when the
muse is allowed to lead me to something unexpected. So I began with a
concept but with the intention to let things evolve organically. This is
opposed to what I teach to students because it is definitely not the
surest path. But it intuitively felt like the perfect strategy for my
current state of creative evolution. I love how this one turned out, but
it could have just as easily flopped. A hardened resolve saw this one
through to completion.

The setup, sans green glass and when the leaves were fresher:

Intentional tone:

Going straight for the jugular, so to speak.

Overlapping mixture of brush and knife applications:

As the leaves got drier, they got more interesting.

I knew something was going to be on the left, but I didn't decide til
this stage:

And the finished painting, "A Season For Change"
  (16x20):
