Image 1630631 Dear Subscribers, Greetings! Our transition to biweekly is working splendidly for me, thank you all for understanding. It is allowing me to do some top-secret painting for UN|REALISM :). If you missed the previous issue due to an eventful USA Thanksgiving, here is the link. New workshop date just added!: March 18-21 2015. 4-Day Still Life Composition and Painting at The Jack Richeson School in Wisconsin. See here for registration details. Image 1211437 And another workshop announcement: 1 spot has just opened up in Lindale Texas workshop #1: February 20-23 4-Day Still Life Composition and Painting. Get it while it's hot. Contact Maureen at mkillaby@suddenlink.net or phone:(903) 830-6694 I had a cosmic experiment. It started as different sized grape forms floating in the ether and ended looking more like planets in space. Cosmic grapes. I wasn't satisfied with the direction so I scraped it out but it was a good exercise that I spent a surprising amount of time on. I've been obsessed recently with Hubble photos of nebulas so I'll likely revisit the space theme. This is on a small 8x8 panel. Using knife: Image 1630636 Image 1630637 Image 1630638 Image 1630639 New Flrrbl painting. Our friend the Overlord is back. I started with a view of downtown Seattle from Gasworks Park. Image 1630162 Image 1630163 The man in the white shirt on the right is important, so I painted him early and pumped up the white. Maybe he is the first to notice that something isn't quite right, and is hurrying down the hill. Or maybe he is clueless like the others. Either way, he offers a secondary focal point. A Closeup: Image 1630646 After drying and framing, "A Foregone Conclusion" is headed out to debut in Denver (early next month). It is going to look killer in the frame that is being made for it. Soon to be revealed: A new still life that reminds of my painting "The Third Eye" from 2012. The process felt similar.
