Greetings. Happy Holidays!
New still life.
Stages:
The Setup
The Setup
I found free glass blocks on the street at a remodel. So I took one.
Cool object. Often an object will lead to an idea.

Thoughts. Painting allows me the freedom to not be exact. Coming from a
technical drawing background and an inborn tendency towards
perfectionism, this is a great relief. When I say perfectionism I'm
framing it in a negative sense: The inability to make efficient
progress because of an obsession over detail...aka paralysis. This is a
large part of my gravitation towards painting. I don't need to measure
or use a straight edge or use an elliptical template etc.. because
paint is the ultimate medium. All mistakes are forgiven. Not that this
loose approach is superior to any other approach. It's just one way to
get a painting done. My preferred way.
