| Dear Subscribers, Greetings! Happy 4th of July! The refer-a-friend contest is now over. SO..., let me just hand this over to my lovely assistant..  And the winner is... (drumroll)  Kay Garrett! On to the art stuff: This week I concentrated on painting still-life with just a palette knife. There were a few false starts but it started to feel good, and I got some good results. New mini this week, "Grapes on Fire" (5x5 panel)  All sorts of juicy paint...it was fun. I moved onto something a little bigger. The setup:  The first stage:  I started on a panel that I'd pre-toned with burnt sienna and blue. Honestly, at this stage I was a little lost... struggling to draw with the palette knife, swimming in gobs of paint.. but I had a mental image of what I wanted, and it was ridiculous fun. The next stage:  I opted for a sharp-edged surface rather than the cloth. A picture is beginning to emerge... Next stage:  Closer... And the finished painting, "Blue Glass" (9x12 panel):  JUST SOLD!:   "Dormant" and "Cup on Red" Until next week, David A. N.
