Dear Reader,
Greetings.
This new painting has been around 10 months in the making, on and off. There were months that went by when I didn't know what to do with it. And a period of time when I thought for sure that it would be abandoned. Now it's finally finished, and I'm happy with it.
Some of you might remember when I wrote about it in March (click link to view):

There was a very ugly stage this summer that I failed to photograph. Thankfully, I think. I set it aside in disgust, and moved on. Sometime in August I received a sparkling little gift from the muse, the hint of an idea, and went through some of my old reference photographs of Seattle, and collaged a composition to be integrated with the portrait. The execution took some time, but everything seemed to fall into place with relative ease compared with how I struggled earlier with this painting. Sometimes that's just how it goes.
